Abstract
Today, Primus Truber (1507 ?-1587) is a national symbolic figure in the Republic of Slovenia, where people remember that, by his translations and editions of biblical and Reformation literature, he created the written Slovene language. Catholic priest and canon of the Diocese of Ljubljana / Laibach, he embraced the Reformation at the end of the 1540s and became a Lutheran preacher in the Free Cities in the south of the Holy Roman Empire and in Württemberg. It was in Württemberg that, with the support of Duke Christoph, he worked on his Slovene translations and that he produced copies of the «Establishment for the Diffusion of the Bible » of Hans Ungnad ; of noble stock, this aristocrat exiled for his faith came, like Truber, from central Austria.
