Abstract

Hydatid cyst disease is a parasitic infection most commonly caused by Echinococcus granulosus and less likely by Echinococcus multilocularis with worse prognosis of latter one. Bone involvement is rarely seen and vertebral involvement is observed in nearly half of the cases. Lumbar site is rarely involved compared with thoracal and cervical vertebrae. In this study, we aimed to present primary vertebral hydatic cyst case involving lumbar vertebrae and to review radiological findings in the light of literature.
