Abstract
The bacitracin antibiotic peptide complex has been analyzed using liquid chromatography in conjunction with ion spray tandem mass spectrometry and multiple reaction monitoring techniques. Fragmentation patterns were determined from the product ion spectrum of bacitracin A (mol. wt 1421.8 Da), a compound of well-established structure. Primary structural information has been determined for seven minor components of the bacitracin complex with regard to the extent of amino acid substitution taking place.
