Abstract

A case of primary squamous-cell carcinoma of the uterine corpus is presented, the twenty-fifth reported in the medical literature. This lesion occurred in an asymptomatic 78-year-old white woman with no abnormal physical signs. It would have escaped early detection had it not been for a routine cytologic smear. Theories of the histogenesis of squamous epithelium occurring in the uterine cavity are reviewed, as are the various etiological factors involved.
