Primary mediastinal choriocarcinoma with elevated serum CYFRA 21-1

Abstract

We report here the first case of primary mediastinal choriocarcinoma in a patient whose serum level of CYFRA 21-1 (a cytokeratin 19 fragment) was initially elevated but declined with chemotherapy. Tumor cells were immunohistochemically positive for cytokeratin 19 fragment. This is the first case report of primary mediastinal choriocarcinoma in a patient with elevated serum CYFRA 21-1 level.
