Abstract

Malignant amelanotic melanomas of the posterior maxilla are very rare pathology disease. Most of these lesions have occurred on the maxillary anterior gingival area, particularly on the palatal and alveolar mucosa. Oral malignant melanomas are more aggressive and worse than cutaneous melanomas, and complex anatomy of this area makes complete surgical removal difficult. Thus, early diagnosis and treatment are important. We presented malignant amelanotic melanoma of the posterior maxilla in one case by histopathology examination and also immunohistochemical stain methods. In this paper, we reported an unusual clinical presentation of primary oral malignant amelanotic melanoma of the posterior maxilla in palatal and gingiva, which is very rare. Survival rates may be increased by early diagnosis and treatment.
