Because of its comparative rarity, however, the possibility of its existence is frequently overlooked. The case to be described had her first episode of renal lithiasis at the age of 30, and the diagnosis of parathyroid adenoma was not made until the age of 62. This duration of symptoms is longer than in any case I have been able to find in the literature. Postoperatively, decalcification and hypocalcemia were so severe that intensive parenteral therapy was necessary.
