Abstract
Complex wound closure is an option for spine surgical site infections to close dead space and deliver a well vascularized muscle to the wound bed to facilitate infection control, fusion, and instrumentation retention. Little comparative literature exists to describe the efficacy of staged paraspinous muscle flap reconstruction (MFC) versus primary wound closure (PC) of a spine surgical site infection.
