Abstract

Physical health comorbidities are often undiagnosed or undertreated in individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Mental health nurses are in an ideal position to identify, refer, and monitor treatment of these comorbidities. National evidence-based practice guidelines provide key information about common physical health comorbidities that mental health nurses can readily use in their everyday practice.
