Abstract

A total of 10 men less than 50 years old was found to have primary bladder neck obstruction on multichannel voiding studies with cystourethrography. Of these men 4 had detrusor pressures at maximum flow of 70cm. water or more with significantly more trabeculation, and 8 had normal voiding pressures (50 to 69cm. water) and less trabeculation. The detrusor response to primary bladder neck obstruction is variable but, if the detrusor pressure is sustained, normal pressures may be associated with clinical obstruction.
