Abstract

Primary malignant mucosal melanoma of the nose is a rare entity and that of amelanotic variant is extremely rare, accounting for one-third of nasal mucosal melanomas. Here we describe the case of a patient who presented with right nasal obstruction. Based on clinical, radiological and pathological examination, amelanotic melanoma of the right lateral wall of the nasal cavity was diagnosed. No other primary was detected. He was treated with surgical excision by lateral rhinotomy on the right side, followed by radiotherapy. No recurrence was noticed in 18 months follow-up period.
