Abstract

Flow cytometry is a versatile and fast method of cell detection. We focus on its application in oncological diseases diagnostics. We briefly describe the characteristics and functional principle of the flow cytometer and its systems, including fluorescence as an important element of this method. Next, we define the methodology, the immunophenotyping principle, and the material used in the diagnostics of oncological diseases by flow cytometry. However, the main emphasis is on presenting flow cytometry as a diagnostic method for selected hemato-oncological diseases, and its application in solid tumors diagnostics, with a specific focus on identifying the metastatic process presence associated with solid tumors by detecting significant markers of metastatic activity.
