Abstract

Clinical case report of a 55 year old policeman with diabetes and systemic hypertension, who presented with acute priapism. There was no obvious precipitating factor except for a poorly controlled blood sugar level. He was managed as a case of hyperglycemic emergency with saline infusion and insulin therapy while the priapism resolved following surgical corporo- spongiosal fistulation. It is being reported because of the rarity of this complication in diabetes. Key words: Priapism, Diabetes, hypertension. Nigerian Medical Practitioner Vol.46(5-6) 2004: 97-99
