Abstract

Efficient oocyte recruitment is essential for success in ART, and depends on individualized controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) protocols. Accurate prediction of ovarian response to gonadotropins is not always possible due to the lack of reliable parameters. Age and early follicular phase serum FSH are the most commonly used predictors of ovarian response. However, these may fail to predict individual patient’s response to a specific dose regimen. We have previously shown that women who undergo COH with gonadotropins prior to their first IVF-ET cycle have lower cycle cancellation and higher pregnancy rates compared to women who undergo IVF-ET as the first line of treatment.
