Abstract

The preventive approach in social work has emerged to the forefront in the last decade. It thus becomes imperative to assess how it has penetrated the work with vulnerable populat:ions such as the elderly and especially the at-risk elderly in Israel. It is necessary to address issues such as the special composition of aged immigrants and their different lifestyles and lagging personal resources. The developments of preventive social work with the elderly in Israel are discussed, anal zing the knowledge bases needed, the obstacles in wide range appLations and recommendations for further expansion of the preventive approach.
