Abstract
In an incident which took place in a crowded and most populated area, a girl was subjected to an acid attack, causing severe acid burns on her face, neck and shoulder. The two boys who indulged in this attack, created chaotic situation and ruckus and commotion in the entire area and a sense of fear and terror prevailed in the locality. Two boys were named by the victim as Sajid and Neeraj who worked in the company, where the victim was employed. A case was registered U/s 326 A of the Indian Penal Code, Sec 120B of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act. It was alleged that the victim was harassed by Sajid, who threatened her that he would indulge in acid attack upon her. On the recommendation of the Superintendent of Police, the District Magistrate ordered the Preventive Detention of the culprit for a period of one year.
