Abstract
Purpose/Objective: Pterygium is a benign disease of the supporting orbital tissue that can cause impairment of visual function. As surgery alone results in recurrence rates between 20–40%, initial treatment is often combined with radio- or chemotherapy. In order to reaffirm the effectiveness and complication rate of postoperative single dose beta-irradiation with Strontium 90 (Sr90) in case of primary pterygium, we initiated a clinical trial.
