Abstract

Measures to prevent accidents at home should be targeted towards those at most risk who are the parents of toddler, pre-school children and the lower social class groups. A study was done to assess the level of knowledge on prevention of selected home accidents among mothers of toddler at a selected village, Kanchipuram District, Tamilnadu. This study had used a non experimenta l-descriptive des ign with quantitative approach. The sample size was 30 and the sampling technique used was non probability, purposive sampling technique. The results revealed that there was no significant association between levels of knowledge with selected demographic variables of the mothers of toddlers like age, education, occupation, socio economic background, knowledge of the mother, sex of the child, type of house, terrace availability, kitchen availability, and the source of water availability. Thus the mothers of toddler must be aware of prevention of home accidents, because home accidents can cause severe life threatening issues, even death especially among toddler.
