Summary

Introduction

Over 5% of the world’s population or 466 million people has disabling hearing loss (432 million adults and 34 million children)[1]. Deafness is a major public health problem in our country[2]. The prevalence of disabling hearing loss in Bangladesh is 9.6%3. These findings came out from the ‘National survey on prevalence of hearing impairment in Bangladesh’ carried out in 2013 using standard WHO methods.
