Abstract

Objective To discuss the prevention and nursing resolution of complications associated with peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) application in otolaryngology tumor patients.Methods To analyze and discuss the prevention and resolution of complications that had happened on 142 cases of PICC application in patients with otorhinolaryngologic neoplasms.Results Successful insertion in 138 cases (97.18%).Fourteen cases with complications ( 10.14% ),including two cases ( 1.45% ) of bleeding on site of catheter insertion,six cases (4.35%) of catheter tip mal-position,five cases (3.62%) of mechanical phlebitis and one case (0.72%) of deep venous thrombosis.Conclusions PICC application will be much safer if we pay attention to mastering the indications of PICC,standardization of PICC nursing and complication handling.
