Abstract
Sir Norman Bettison is Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police and the ACPO Lead for Preventing Violent Extremism. In this article, he summarizes the Government and Police responses to 7/7, looking at how ACPO has responded to the Government's ‘Prevent’ Strategy by focussing on community engagement and the generation, sharing and development of community intelligence. He concludes by stating how important partnership work is in facilitating the information flow needed to maintain the Strategy successfully.
