Abstract

Diabetic foot infections (DFIs) represent a significant complication of diabetes mellitus, contributing to morbidity, prolonged hospital stays, and increased healthcare costs. This paper explores the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation of DFIs, while emphasizing strategies for prevention and treatment. Comprehensive care, including glycemic control, patient education, proper footwear, regular foot examinations, and early intervention, is critical. Treatment options span from conservative measures like antibiotics to surgical interventions. Emerging therapies and the role of multidisciplinary teams in managing DFIs are also discussed.
