Abstract

Recently Vitamin D3 deficiency took a lot of concern and considered a global issue these days. This study involved a comparison of serum vitamin D level in people attended medical clinics in Samarra city. These results showed that the number of samples with a normal range of vitamin D was 7 out of 50 and by 14%, while those with a lower vitamin D3 level than the normal range (less than 30 ng/ml) were 43 out of 50 samples. Thus, the incidenced of deficiency represents 86%.When distributed these results according to the severity of the deficiency in the vitamin D3 level, these results showed that the largest proportion of samples were within the vitamin D3 level less than 20 ng/ml or so-called vitamin D3 deficiency status, and the percentage was 52% of the samples were 56.6% of males and 45% of females. As for state (the vitamin D3 level of between 20 to 29 ng/ml) was 34%, representing (36.6% of males and 25% of females). The prevalence of vitamin D3 deficiency between males and females showed that the percentage of males had a vitamin D3 deficiency was 93.3% (28 out of a total of 30) compared to 6.66% (2 out of a total of 30) had a normal vitamin D3 level. In the female was 75% (15 out of 20) had a vitamin D3 deficiency compared to 25% (5 out of 20) of females within a normal range. The statistical analysis showed that t.17here were no significant differences in the vitamin D3 level between males and females at p (sig.> 0.05). This study showed that there was a negative and non-significant correlation between vitamin D3 deficiency and weight gain, at an r value=(-0.057)
