Prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes among non-pregnant women of reproductive age in the United States, 1999–2010

Abstract

Undiagnosed diabetes has particularly harmful consequences among women of reproductive age. We assessed the prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes among non-pregnant women of reproductive age. In our data 30 women had A1C≥6.5 and 28 had FPG≥126mg/dl values suggesting approximately 300,000 women of reproductive age nationwide may have undiagnosed diabetes.
