Abstract

Background: Refractive errors, especially myopia now are particular concerned because of its implications for public health. Besides, the economic and financial burden of myopia on families and society. Objectives: Determine the current prevalence of myopia, and associated factors in Cao Nguyen practice high school students in 2022. Related factors. Materials and method: The cross-sectional study was carried on 627 students of Cao Nguyen practice high school, from January of 2022 to December 2022. The students were approached, filled in the charts, and then were checked the vision acuity and refractive. Results: Percentage of students with myopia is 48.8%, with the simple myopia is 26.5%, and the myopic astigmatism is 22.3%. Percentage of female students with myopia is 64.7%, and male students is 35.3%. Percentage of myopia in urban is 64.7%, and in rural is 35.3%. Percentage of myopia of school grade of 10, school grade of 11, and school grade of 12 is rising gradually 41.2%, 49.2%, and 55%. Most of students have myopia in both eyes, at 90.2%. Incidence rate is 23.4%. Conclusion: Percentage of myopia in Cao Nguyen Practice High School students is high, and is rising gradually by grade. Three associated factors are gender, residential area, and family history. Key words: refractive error, myopia, Cao Nguyen Practice High School.
