Wular Lake had highest recovery of total bacterial isolates in all the seasons. Autumn and spring season recovered highest and lowest isolates respectively. The most common Gram negative bacterial species recovered were E.coli, Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., and Providencia spp. The other bacterial species isolated were Citrobacter spp., Serratia spp. and Shigella spp. During this study period none of the sample was positive for Salmonella spp. The serotypes of E.coli recovered were O2, O22, O49, O78, O84, O86, O152 and UT.
