Abstract

Background and Aim: Hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) positive individuals are frequently encountered in routine clinical practice while evaluating health related conditions or blood donation or during routine health check-up. We performed a prospective study to evaluate the modes of detection of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection, contact history in the family, the awareness about HBV infection, and the prevalence of cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) among these HBV positive subjects.
