Abstract

Background: The rapid increased number of COVID -19 cases and the high death toll was an emergent and widespread concern around the globe hence this study aims to evaluate the prevalence of COVID 19 in western part of Maharashtra and to evaluate the HRCT features. Methods and Materials: A total of 244 patients during April –May 2020 who visited the tertiary care hospital aged between 0- 80 years and who were suspected for COVID 19 underwent RTPCR test. The study was conducted between April – May 2020. Collected data were recorded and entered, verified, processed, and analyzed using software package SPSS program version 19. The gender, age, and HRCT findings were recorded. Two examiners specialized in the subject of Radiology reported the HRCT reports. HRCT was performed in a single breath-hold on a 16 slice-MDCT scanner. A total number of 244 COVID 19 suspected patients underwent RTPCR test. Among 244 patients 164 patients tested positive for COVID 19. The prevalence of COVID 19 was 67.21% . There was a higher prevalence in male as compared to females and mostly 4th and 5th decade of life were affected i.e. aged between 41 to 60 years. The mean CO-RADS score was 11.76±7.68.
