Abstract

In a recent issue of the Journal, Qian and associates published an interesting report on acute zonal occult outer retinopathy (AZOOR). 1 Qian C.X. Wang A. DeMill D.L. et al. Prevalence of anti-retinal antibodies in Acute Zonal Occult Outer Retinopathy (AZOOR): a comprehensive review of 25 cases. AZOOR is an enigmatic condition, and any research that sheds light on the pathogenesis of this disease is important. However, the current study by Qian and associates makes incorrect assumptions about the pathogenicity of ARAs, thereby making it difficult to draw conclusions from this study.
