Abstract

Serum samples from 495 sheep and 211 goats from three states of the central part of Mexico were tested to determine the prevalence of antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii using the indirect immunogluorescent test (IFA). The overall prevalence rate in sheep was 30% and in goats 44%. The antibody prevalence in sheep by state was: Morelos 55%, San Luis Potosi 39% and Guanajuato 20%; and in goats: Morelos 55% and San Luis Potosi 29%.
