Abstract
To the Editor: We appreciate the opportunity to respond to “Pretransplantation Pharmacokinetic Assessments to Predict Posttransplantation Dosing Requirements in Renal Transplant Recipients: What Is Known?,” by van Maarseveen and van Zuilen.1 On the basis of published data that show a poor correlation between pre- and posttransplantation tacrolimus pharmacokinetics, the authors doubt that pretransplantation assessment of in vivo CYP3A4 activity might be a promising strategy to predict posttransplantation tacrolimus dose requirements.
