Abstract
ABSTRACT Porous-elastic theory is used to explain how hydraulic fracturing operations can cause nearly instantaneous pressure responses in nearby wells. The theory is applied to a field example where it is used to estimate fracture azimuth for a vertical hydraulic fracture. Knowledge of fracture azimuth can be used to increase productivity from a reservoir.
