Abstract

In its use, LPG gas itself has disadvantages, namely flammability because it is a hydrocarbon, namely propane and butane. LPG gas storage areas also have to use a strong and leak-free tube. Because if the gas storage tube leaks, when it is used it will easily ignite and explode. LPG gas must meet several special requirements in order to be safe for use in the sense that it does not endanger the user and does not damage the equipment used and is efficient in its use. Reducing the risk of material loss and casualties due to gas cylinder leaks, a gas leak detection system is needed which can later be used as a safety system or a warning against gas leaks in the hope that users can respond quickly to gas leaks in their environment. alone. The warning that is given can be in the form of a short message or an alarm that can alert the user. The purpose of this research is to first create a Pressure Measurement Algorithm for LPG gas leakage using the MQ6 sensor and GSM SIM 900A for Smarthome. The second is to design an Arduino-based gas leak notification using the SMS Gateway. The method used in this research is the experimental method, which is a method that is generally used in laboratory research, and the second is the prototype method, in which device changes are made many times until the goal of the device to be developed is achieved. The results of this research are the first to produce an algorithm for measuring the pressure of LPG gas leakage using the MQ6 sensor which can be applied to the Smarthome, testing this algorithm using a board on the Arduino microcontroller which is connected directly to the MQ6 sensor as an input medium. After the embedded gas leak pressure measurement algorithm is carried out on the MQ6 sensor, it functions as a sensor that only detects LPG, propane, butane and the like. In the results of trials that have been carried out by going through 4 stages of testing, this detector will be more optimal in detecting gas leaks at a distance of 5 cm. The second is to produce arduino-based gas leak notification information by using the SMS Gateway. This tool is also equipped with a GSM SIM 900A module which functions as an SMS gateway, so that if a gas leak occurs, the GSM SIM 900A can be a medium for connecting the user's mobile device. to provide information via SMS, the better the quality of the network available, the faster the notification will be sent.
