Abstract

The pressure dependence of superconducting transition temperature Tc was investigated on single-crystal samples of Zn-substituted YBa 2 Cu 3-x Zn x O 7-δ. In contrast to previous measurements on polycrystalline samples where, because of the broad transition, large uncertainty exists in determining the detailed pressure dependence of Tc, our measurements revealed that adding Zn impurities only slightly enhances the dTc=dP (where P denotes the pressure). The absolute value of dT c =dP is small in the whole range of x investigated, despite of the dramatic depression of Tc upon the substitution. The results seem to demonstrate that the depression of T c , and hence the dynamic processes responsible for the pairing mechanism, are quite irrelevant to, or insensitive to the pressure-induced static lattice modifications.
