Abstract

The resonance Raman spectra of bis( p-toluene sulfonate) of 2,4-hexadiyne-1, 6-diol (PTS) polymer ▪R C−C≡C−CR ▪ n, where R = CH 2OSO 2C 6H 4CH 3 , have been measured under hydrostatic pressure up to 36 kbar. The modes associated with the vibrations of the polymer backbone shift linearly with pressure. Their mode Grüneisen parameters are determined, which are reasonable for internal modes of molecular crystals. The change of the intensity ratio of doublets in the C=C stretch vibration region with pressure is interpreted in terms of the Fermi resonance.
