Abstract

Pressure and field dependent resistivity measurements have been performed for various RECo 2 compounds. These compounds exhibits a dramatic pressure dependent shift of the magnetic ordering temperature T c to lower temperatures. The first order type of transition does not change with pressure in the heavy RECo 2 ( RE = Dy , Ho, Er). A magnetic field, in contrast, increases T c in all RECo 2 compounds. If the transition is of first order, it changes to second order with increasing fields. Above T c the resistivity behaviour is determined by scattering processes of the conduction electrons on both, local moments and spin fluctuations.
