Lee's letter raises two important points: (1) the American public likely does not understand the workings of the Twenty-fifth Amendment, and they would find it difficult to accept the concept of an acting president, and (2) the careful plans described by Lee are unknown to most of us. It is obvious they would have to be shorn of sensitive and security issues, but promulgation of the plans would be reassuring to the public.
