Abstract

Hello, and welcome to the 2nd Quarter 2014 issue of the IEEE EMC Society Magazine. Preparations are moving apace towards the Symposium in Raleigh, North Carolina, in early August. We have a really good paper turnout this year, some excellent workshops and tutorials, and some very interesting activities celebrating the anniversary of James Clerk Maxwell's monumental paper A Dynamical Theory of the Electromagnetic Field, read to the Royal Society in December of 1864 and published by the Royal Society in January of 1865, in which he first published equations that would eventually become familiar to every serious student of electromagnetics. Another very exciting event that will be occurring in Raleigh is an opportunity to speak directly with your new candidates for the Board. They will all be wearing a distinctive ribbon on their name tags, and we plan to hold opportunities for each candidate to speak to the membership during the Symposium, so that you, the members, have a chance to see and hear their positions and to ask them any questions you may have about their qualifications or aspirations. Also, we are again offering Professional Development Hours (PDHs) and Certificates of Participation (CoPs) for attendees, as we did in Denver. Please check your registration materials carefully for this most important offering so you can substantiate your attendance at this super event! If you haven't yet done so, please visit URL http://emc2014.org/ and check out what we have in store for you in Raleigh, North Carolina, in early August this year! You DON'T want to miss out on this premier event! While you're checking out the website, it would be great time to go ahead and register! This year we will be having a sort of double Symposium, with both EMC and Signal Integrity/Power Integrity tracks and awards. It is really shaping up to be a fantastic event, and I know you don't want to miss it! I look forward to seeing all of you in Raleigh.
