Abstract

The College has faced many changing times within the last year indemnity insurance, legal benefits for members, a new constitution inviting consumers and midwifery students as members, planning to move the National Office to Canberra, being on the cusp of changing midwifery education forever in Australia with the Bachelor of Midwifery commencing next year, and of course continuing to [iaise with governments about workforce planning, recruitment and retention of midwives. We have held another very successful National Biennial Conference in Bnsbane despite the tragedy of international terrorism and the collapse of Ansett. However midwives, true in their commitment made the journey by car, bus, train and air changing flights, just to join in the celebration and the spirit of midwifery. It was inspirational to be a part of such a celebration.
