Abstract

I hate working on strategic plans. I have been involved with several SIR strategic plans, none of which seem to last the intended 5 years before they need updating due to changes in the practice of interventional radiology (IR) and in the practice of medicine in general. Each of the plans seems to address the same issues. We deal with competition, ideas on how to have the public recognize IR, issues with reimbursement, programs to prove the value of the care we provide, training in new procedures, etc.
