Abstract

In 21st century, the use of the Internet and digital technology in second and foreign language learning and acquisition is predominant. Therefore, concern for language teachers’ competence in utilizing technology in their classrooms is growing. This study aims to investigate pre-service English teachers’ readiness for TELL in Indonesian context. Pre-service English teachers’ readiness is examined from their digital literacy aspect and their belief about technology for language learning and teaching. The mix method design was employed in this research. The data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The participants were the pre-service teachers undergoing a teacher education program in an Islamic state university in Indonesia. The result suggests that the pre-service teachers had high level of digital literacy and they believe that the internet and digital technology is beneficial for language learning and teaching.
