Abstract
Aim: This study is based on an analysis of probability for Kandyan dress preservation through video documentation. The study seeks to address the advantages, challenges, hands-on approaches, and transcending methodology to illuminate the video documentation method as a pragmatic way to preserve cultural heritage.Method: A qualitative analysis of this study’s data will be performed using the literature review and theoretical models.Findings: The formation of the Kandyan dress can be considered a unique sculpting technique where fabric moulds on the body, defining its three-dimensional form. Anthropologically and historically, this dress is most imperative as it is diverse, original and responded to a well-formed socio-economic structure.Implications/Novel Contribution: This application and overview are expected to benefit social researchers in understanding the opportunities and constraints of this kind of practice and methodology.
