Abstract

PTLD is a complication of organ transplantation. Our retrospective series characterize the clinical outcomes after lung transplantation. Between 1991–2004, our institution performed lung transplants in 383 patients, of whom 24(6%) have developed PTLD. There is a male predominance(58%) with an average age at diagnosis of 53 years. The median time from transplant to PTLD diagnosis was 10.6 months. Most cases had an elevated LDH(89%) and were EBV-positive(91%). All PTLDs were B-cell origin: 55% were polymorphic and 45% were monomorphic.
