Abstract

Yet another set of dimensionless variables is offered. These have the advantage of the Blok groups, that all results can be plotted on a single graph, but in addition one group is of secondary importance, so that all results lie in a narrow band. Thus, film thickness is shown to depend primarily on a single parameter. It is deduced that the extrapolated rigid cylinder theories give a very good estimate of the film thickness under elastohydrodynamic conditions.
