Abstract

Background: A catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) is a preventable infection that has a significant impact on patient outcomes and hospital reimbursement. In 2016, our 394-bed acute care facility saw an increase in CAUTI occurrences in the intensive care unit (ICU). The objective of this process improvement project was to decrease the incidence of ICU CAUTI.
