Abstract

BACKGROUND: The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 Part G requires medical facilities to notify emergency response employee (ERE) within 48 hours of a known exposure to certain infectious diseases. This notification is to promote timely provision of post-exposure prophylaxis when indicated. There has been no previous literature on compliance with mandatory reporting or optimizing notification methods. The objective of this project was increase infectious disease exposure notification to EREs utilizing a prehospital care department to streamline reporting.
