Abstract

Latin America is a zone of peace that reaches its maximum expression in South America. The acute levels of intra-state and transnational violence registered in certain areas do not overshadow the sustained absence of high-intensity interstate conflicts and the existence of prolific mechanisms for building mutual trust. This represents a global singularity that awakens the recurrent academic interest of epistemic communities from different parts of the world, being the Spanish one of the most prolific. In effect, we start from the premise that the Ibero-American exchange of best practices and lessons learned is particularly fruitful for the public administration of these issues on both sides of the Atlantic.
