Abstract

ObjectivesThe main aim of this survey was to collect data regarding the rate at which the new technologies are used in endodontic practice. MethodsA detailed questionnaire was circulated to 500 delegates in Federation of Operative Dentistry and Indian Endodontic society conference. The delegates were requested information about specific materials and techniques used. 319 delegates responded which accounts for 63.8% of response. ResultsThe survey results reflect improved technology. 14% prescribe medication prior to the treatment and Amoxicillin was most frequently preferred antibiotic. 84% of responded dentists use Sodium hypochlorite as intracanal irrigant. 81% use Ca(OH)2 as an intracanal medicament. 95% of dentist still use hand files in cleaning and shaping of the canals. Crown down technique was most preferred way used in biomechanical preparation. Lateral Condensation technique was used for obturation, 36% of people use digital radiography, 26% prefer single visit endodontic treatment. ConclusionWith the review of the result of the survey states that there are vast changes in present day endodontic practice as new materials and techniques are incorporated in routine endodontic practice. This is to conclude the result should serve as a baseline for comparative purpose for future surveys.
