Abstract

This paper provides an overview of factors that lead to the formation of environmental statutes. Specifically, this paper describes how societal values play a role in the development of environmental regulations, such as those pertaining to pollution prevention, air quality, and protection of children's health. This paper also provides a general discussion of current environmental regulations, their impact on industrial research and development, and the types of environmental regulations that may be in effect within the next 10 years.
