Abstract

• An industry viewpoint is presented on current practices and limitations related to lifetime prediction for nitinol medical components. • Common testing methodologies and computational methods are described, along with their limitations. • New probabilistic and volume based methods are proposed for characterizing material impurities and critical strain regions, and predicting risk of fatigue fracture based on these distributions.
